With 5,977 employees (including around 2,500 in research and development) from 78 nations, the company generated revenue of EUR 4.8 billion in the 2024 fiscal year (ending 30 September). With research expenditure of 686 million euros, Infineon Austria is the strongest research company in Austria.
With the high-tech chip factory for power semiconductors on 300-millimeter thin wafers, and the state-of-the-art, intelligently automated production facility for the new semiconductor materials SiC and GaN, Villach is considered the global innovation factory of the front-end production network. The continuous development of leading edge processes in ion implantation and thermal annealing is a key aspect and Infineon has pioneered innovative solutions in these fields, introducing new technologies to the market through collaborative efforts with suppliers and research institutions.
